So what is e-commerce and how does it apply to my business?

E-commerce is a term coined to identify business that occurs electronically through the medium of the Internet and handle credit card or e-check transactions in real-time on-line. Some, like PayPal, have their own shopping cart or can be incorporated into your own cart you can add your products too. Online processing is then available worldwide (subject to fraud restrictions) for most major credit cards.
